Forest my love, the coast sounds awesome. I hope the rain let up so you guys could do all the things you wanted to do. We are having a rainy week here as well. Last night before the rain the fireflies where out and about putting on an amazing light show. I swear I've never seen so many! I hope your cast is holding up.... I bet it STINKS! The picture above I think may be one of my favorites here on the blog. Hope you were able to catch some waves and see the sea life below. Sounds like everyone is feeling better! Sorry but I'm counting the days till you get home. I miss you dearly. Enjoy the coming days and do all you can. I LOVE YOU
What a busy day filled with fun and hopefully the sun at some point. It is so dreary here, raining for the past few days none stop. Were you able to see the sea turtles?. Not sure what the plan is for tomorrow but you seem to do something fun and exciting every day. Everyone is thinking of you and hoping you are happy. All our love, Gram and Gramp.
Hi Walker!! I can’t get over all the things you’ve been doing in the past few days!! My absolute favorite video is the one of you surfing into the shore. Awesome to see you mastering that and looking so happy!! Swimming in the enclosed lagoon and seeing the waterfall also looked like fantastic experiences. Sending you so much love and looking forward to seeing what tomorrow has in store for you guys!! xoxo Mom
Dear Clay, Papito and I loved reading the Watkinson blogs and seeing you & your fellow travelers in the photos! It looks like a very special experience & we’re very grateful to the faculty, who are keeping an eye on you and making certain that you have the guidance you need, when you need it and giving you the ability to spread you wings and enjoy new experiences. Tomorrow Mrs. Jaffa, whose visiting friends in Dorset, is coming to our cottage. I look forward to seeing her again.. We love you, Clay and hope you are enjoying every minute in beautiful Costa Rica. We send big hugs, Papito and Mimo
What an awesome picture of you guys above! Did you learn how to surf?? Can't wait to hear all about that! It has been very rainy here so you haven't been missing much weather-wise but we're all missing you! Dad is in Utah for work and Parker is at Winding Trails with Aidan and some other friends at the moment - the pups are staring at me wanting to go for a walk so I think that I'll take them in between rains showers! You no how guilty they can make you feel with those eyes! I know you guys will all be out of touch the next couple of days so have a GREAT time my buddy and soak up every second of fun and experience! Love you Clay xoxo
Day 2 Visit to Sitio De Mata Jake : Hi mom, hi dad!! Today we traveled long and far to the village. There were a bunch of amazing and extremely welcoming people, and made us feel at home. After that we took a tour around the village and saw some orchid farms. Dad you would have liked it because it felt like a secret place a little bit. It was kind of like a mini jungle. We then played soccer with some ticos and took a cooking class where we made many delicious things. I will send you a picture. We are now in a new hotel which is very nice and peaceful. Many individuals come here to bird watch. We have seen a lot of birds so far here. There is a phrase called Pura Vida which means pure life. I hope you are having that with me gone or as much as you possibly can, so PURA VIDA!!! Clay : Hello all. Today was also really fun! We met Tom, who ’s insane, but he’s also pretty fun. We played soccer, and while we were there a dog...
Beach Patrol Mr. Sailor aka George At about 9: 45 pm last night, we set out for our Sea Turtle Beach Patrol. As a group we were not sure what to expect or what we might encounter. We met our guides named David and Fernando at the Cahuita Turtle Rescue. We learned about the organization ’ s beginning and purpose. We had a chance to see where the baby turtles are housed until they hatch and then we set out on the patrol. We were searching for Leatherback Turtles which may be as large as 4-feet in diameter and may lay up to 80 eggs at a time. These turtles may be from Florida or throughout Central America and will only lay eggs at night. As a result, there is a need to protect these turtle eggs from poachers who sell them as an aphrodisiac despite this being against the law in some areas of Costa Rica and can land a poacher in jail for 3-5 years. We walked just over 6 MILES along the beach. We did not en...
Day 4 Sitio Service and Fiesta Clay: Yesterday was probably my favorite day so far. The Fiesta was incredible, and all the people were so welcoming! We had a bunch of fun painting the poles, and we all learned at the Fiesta how Walker is such a lady’s man! Also, after leaving the Fiesta, I no joke cried a little, since in all likelihood I would never see these people again as I won’t be able to go on the trip in the future. Also, as I’m writing this, it’s the halfway point for the trip, and I think it’s pretty likely that the Fiesta will be my fondest memory of the trip. Walker Me and the boys + Bella worked on cleaning and painting light posts around the community. At the fiesta I hit the woah . I taught a bunch of other people how to hit the woah in the community too. Then we danced to music, and they had some LOOOOOONG songs. They also did Gangnam style which was outdated but LIT. Pura Vida, am I right? ...
